History of Carpets
The oldest known carpet, the Pazyryk, dates back to the 5th century BC and was discovered in Siberia. This hand-knotted carpet is a testament to the advanced weaving techniques of ancient cultures. During the 7th century BC, Persian carpets began to gain a reputation because of their intricate designs. By the 16th century, the European interest in the Persian and Turkish carpets grew. These carpets became prized possessions among the European elite, and the trade routes flourished. European weavers began to adopt and adapt Eastern designs. Today, carpets are made from various materials, including wool, silk, nylon, and polyester. Modern designs range from traditional to contemporary, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
